5 Objections for No RV Warranty

Table of Contents:

There are a few common reasons an RVer might be hesitant to get an RV warranty. RV warranties are an added benefit that helps you stay protected and covered out on the road. When shopping around for an extended service contract, some RVers may have objections to denying coverage for their motorhomes or towable RVs. Let’s break down some of the most common objections when it comes to RV warranties and the truth behind them!

Objection 1: “The pricing is too high.”

RV Driving On The Highway

Adding an extended service contract to your RV is an investment. You worked hard for your RV adventures, and they should be protected! When you choose a policy from Wholesale Warranties, you have coverage options that can work with your financial needs. You can either choose an Exclusionary or Comprehensive coverage, as well as a long-term or short-term policy. There are options available for every RVer and their lifestyle. These added benefits aren’t ‘dirt cheap’, but they can be made affordable. Cost will also vary from motorhome to motorhome. A variety of factors will come into play when it comes to quoting a unique number, specific to each RVer. Things such as make, model, year, and mileage will be determining factors when creating a unique quote.

With policies sold from Wholesale Warranties, you get more than just mechanical and electrical coverage. You are also buying into roadside assistance, tire & wheel protection, and a thorough RV inspection. With roadside assistance, you’ll be offered access to towing, lockouts, fuel delivery, and trip interruption. When you have assistance on the road, you also have peace of mind which reduces stress and lets you enjoy your trip even more!

Waiting for the perfect moment to purchase a policy is a mistake. The right time to add an extended service contract is now! Every year your RV is a model year older, meaning the cost of the policy will go up every year. It’s important to lock in your price and save money as your rig ages.

Objection 2: “I would rather self-insure.”

There are many dangers that RVers can run into when going this route. Many RVers think, “I take good care of my rig, I won’t need expensive repairs.” Unfortunately, this optimistic thought can lead RVers to pay hundreds or even thousands out of pocket when they least expect it.  Warranties allow you to make smaller monthly payments that can be affordable. This way, you can spend your money on other RV and travel expenses. RV repairs are amongst one of the most expensive costs you will encounter. When you self-insure, you are responsible for parts and labor. On the flip side, if you had a warranty those items would be covered.

Let’s take your refrigerator for example. The average repair costs will be around $600-$3,200. Imagine taking this amount out of your own pocket during one RV trip. Additionally, let’s say you have engine problems during your next trip; this will cost around $1,400-30,000 to repair. With these two mechanical and electrical breakdowns combined, an extended warranty could have covered the costs, leaving you to only take care of the deductible.

Fact: 30% of RVs will require a major repair in their 2nd year and 80% of RVs will require a major repair by their 5th year!

Objection 3: “The other company is cheaper.”

RV Parked at The Lake

Everyone loves a good deal! Getting the most out of your money is an important factor for everyone. As an RV broker, we tend to agree! Getting the most out of your policy is just as important to us, as it is to you. While there are many competitors out there, many are not up to par with Wholesale Warranties. When comparing policies, you’ll find that other companies do not cover wiring, the radiator, or the latest technology in your rig—think solar panels, and touch screens. Additionally, as stated earlier, your policy from Wholesale Warranties offers more than just electrical and mechanical coverage. Roadside assistance and tire & wheel protection are included in all policies. The best part of all? Customer and claims support when you need it most. We have a dedicated in-house claims and customer support department, ready to help when needed.

Remember, cheaper is not always better.

There are other factors you should consider when choosing a warranty provider, besides pricing. Things such as customer reviews, backed by insurance, and the number of years such company has been around. Finding a reputable broker is just as important as finding a good bargain–a cheaper policy that won’t pay for claims or be there for you when you need it most isn’t really a cheaper policy. Make sure the company you are choosing has a good online reputation. Check sites such as BBB, Trust Pilot, Google Reviews, and online community forums and see what others have to say. Research which companies reputable RV communities endorse, such as FMCA and Escapees RV Club.

Objection 4: “I don’t plan on having my RV for very long.”

We know that situations change and committing to a long-term contract is not always doable. Luckily, all of our policies are transferrable or available to cancel at any time. If you decide to get a different RV, you are able to transfer the warranty policy to the new owner. Having a policy can add value to a motorhome when selling. Additionally, if you are simply no longer interested in a policy, you can cancel anytime with a pro-rated refund! We don’t lock in our customers or make it difficult to change your mind.

Objection 5: “I already have a manufactures warranty.”

If you already have a manufacturer’s warranty, you can also add an extended service contract on top of that! Keep in mind that your manufacturer’s warranty can be limited in coverage. For starters, a manufacturer warranty does not offer long-term coverage and will usually expire within 1 to 2 years. This means you probably won’t get to use that coverage when you actually need it. Remember, most RVs break down after their 2nd year. Even further, locking in an extended RV warranty while you still have manufacturer coverage remaining will ensure you get the best possible rates for your protection, as well as the longest term available. Save money by locking in right away!

Whatever your reasons are for not getting an RV warranty, we hope we were able to clear up some objections and open your mind to protecting your life on the road! Our dedicated staff works hard to get your repairs paid and help you stay out on the road longer.
