The phrase “filing a claim” is one that makes everyone cringe just a tad. At some point during your RV warranty lifetime, you’ll likely need to file a claim. Alas, putting your policy to work! This task can seem like a headache but don’t stress yet! We’re breaking down the steps you need to take to make this process as smooth and easy as possible. We hope this blog can bring some clarity and confidence when it comes time to file that RV warranty claim.
Step 1: Refer Back to your Policy
The first action to take when you break down is to take a deep breath! Breakdowns and repairs are never fun, but trying to remain calm can help more than you think. Next, you’ll want to refer back to your policy and see what type of coverage you have. Understanding what is and isn’t covered will help you understand if the repair needed can be covered by your warranty. Once you have taken a glance at your coverage, try to make an educated guess on what component has failed. Remember, you won’t always know what exactly has failed or caused that item to fail until it has been properly inspected by a professional repair facility, but it’s good to have a general idea of what could have possibly caused a certain failure(s).
Step 2: Finding a Repair Facility
When choosing the right RV warranty company to work with, it’s important to know if you can get repairs anywhere you and your rig are. If you have to tow your motorhome to a limited amount of repair facilities or go back to your dealer if within a certain mileage range, it may not always be the convenient option. Our policies allow you to take your motorhome to any licensed repair facility in the U.S. and Canada. We suggest visiting RV Repair Direct, a directory made to help you find a mechanic near your area, including mobile mechanics as well! Through this site, you can also read other reviews from RVers who have used that repair facility. Before getting towed or visiting your chosen mechanic, give them a call to make sure they take warranties and have time to fit you into their busy schedules. You don’t want any more unexpected surprises!
An added bonus to Wholesale Warranties coverage is the ability to use a mobile mechanic! If your repair is relatively minor, having a mechanic come out to you can be the ultimate convenience!
Step 3: Diagnostics & Pre-Authorization
When a diagnosis is being completed, it’s key you tell the repair facility to NOT begin repairs. A diagnostic should simply be just that! If repairs begin before the warranty company approves or authorizes the work, the claim will not be paid! The mechanic needs to diagnose the problem, then send for approval to the warranty company. Once the failure is reviewed and deemed a covered component, the claim will be pre-authorized, and the repair work can begin. The repair facility and the claims adjustor work together to get estimates on parts and labor, and the adjustor will give a pre-authorization number directly to your repair facility. Once you have this magic number, repairs are ready to be made! Let your mechanic know that you would like to see a copy of the repair estimate before repairs begin, this way you can see how much the total cost is, and the cost the warranty will pay later on.
Step 4: Repairs
Now that everything has been approved, your mechanic and repair facility can begin the work on your motorhome! Repairs can sometimes take all day, or worse, a couple of days! In the event that you are not able to use your rig and have a place to stay, trip interruption is a great add-on that can cover car rentals, lodging, towing, and meals. Ask your Warranty Specialist about trip interruption when locking in a great deal from Wholesale Warranties.
Step 5: Let your Warranty Pick Up the Bill
The last step is payment. Your repair facility will submit a final invoice to your warranty company. With Wholesale Warranties policies, the covered costs will be paid directly to the mechanic over the phone via corporate credit card. You simply pay your deductible and any non-covered services, and get back on the road!
RV repairs are a different type of monster when it comes down to cost, and the time needed for certain repairs. These breakdowns should not hold you back from doing what you love most, traveling! These small hiccups along the road are normal and eventually will happen. What you can do is take control of these situations by having an RV warranty you can trust and rely on. Let your extended service contract pick up the bill so you can focus on other important things. All you have to take care of is your deductible!
What sets Wholesale Warranties apart from other warranty companies is our in-house claims department that works tirelessly to get your claims covered and resolved. Claims should be as easy as outlined here, but if you run into any communication snags, or simply have a question, give our internal customer service team a call, and we’ll be happy to walk you through it.

Our dash air conditioner has stopped working as we don’t get any cool air and don’t hear any cycling. Is this covered by our policy?
This would depend on the type of policy you purchased. Usually, this component would be covered. -WW
