Getting the most out of your RV is money well spent! The adventure doesn’t have to stop when your rig is parked. In fact, a fun staycation can be just as relaxing as an RV vacation, without the stresses of the road. In this blog, we’ll discuss some ideas to help you make your next RV staycation a memorable one!

Putting a Plan Into Action

First thing’s first! Before your staycation can begin, you’ll need to do a bit of planning and organizing, just as you would for a regular RV jaunt. We like to kick things off by making a list of the essentials you will need such as food, household items, cleaning supplies, and activities. Organizing your rig with the important things you’ll need will eliminate clutter and create more free space for those essentials.

Next, make a schedule of the things you want to do during your staycation. Having a schedule and sticking to it will allow

you to be more productive, and achieve your staycation goals. Having a planner on hand is key. While many of you may choose to physically write down your schedule on paper, setting reminders on your phone or even setting alarms for tasks will also work!

If you are planning to work from home (i.e. the rig), carve out a space that’s dedicated for you to work. Being able to work from home, study, or focus on projects helps the time go by fast and keeps you busy. If you’re looking for a way to make money during your staycation, check out this blog!

Oh, The Activities You’ll Do

Think of this staycation as the ultimate camping trip. Put up some string lights to make your “campsite” more inviting, or light a bonfire at night if your space allows! Take advantage of the outdoors and utilize it as your playground.

Your backyard will be your friend this season and no campground is complete without these activities! Enjoying outdoor games for both kids and adults is a great way to breathe some fresh air and add in some exercise, too. Tell us which ones are your favorite to play in the comments below. Now more than ever, you can spend additional time with your loved ones. This is the perfect time to unplug from technology and dedicate your time to being in the moment. Turn off your TV, phone, and connect with the people around you.

Your backyard staycation excursion is the perfect excuse to enjoy some prime BBQ time!  No camping trip is complete without a BBQ. Look up some interesting recipes and plan a special meal everyone will enjoy and remember. Maybe you’ve been waiting to impress everyone with your cooking or grilling skills. Take this opportunity to celebrate your staycation with a meal! Check out this site for delicious camping food that can easily be made over a fire or portable stove: Fresh off the Grid. You’ll now be able to wear the title of Grill Master!

Now that you’ll have some extra time on your hands, there has never been a better opportunity to pick up a new hobby, or reignite your love for an old one. When was the last time you picked up a good book, or got the creative juices flowing? Enjoy the works of your favorite musician, or pick up an instrument of your own. Dust off an old camera you might have and take up photography. There is beauty all around us, even right outside your front door. Take pictures of nature, cars, blue or gray skies, and get inspired by your surroundings. Just because you’re not in a new and exciting location, it doesn’t mean there is no adventure. It’s been proven that people who have a few hobbies are the happiest, and we like to think enjoying those hobbies in your beloved RV counts as extra credit!

Taking Care of the Little Things

Okay hear us out, we know seasonal cleaning might not be at the top of your staycation itinerary, but it’s important! Taking this time to clean, organize, and donate things you no longer need can be very cleansing! Seasonal cleaning is a must in order to get rid of dust, and other environmental toxins from your past excursions. A little work now will make for a quick getaway when your next RV trip is on the horizon.

Looking forward to the future can be very exciting. Take this time to set goals and make plans. Writing down your personal travel dreams in a journal is the first step in putting them into action!
