With the new year approaching, folks are reflecting on the previous year and thinking about plans for the new year. This is the time to set resolutions or goals to fulfill for the future. Many RVers like to include travel plans in their resolutions. In the United States, there are near-endless destinations to visit from coast to coast.
When there are so many beautiful places in such a wide expanse of land, it can be difficult to narrow down where to go next. That’s why Wholesale Warranties has compiled a list of spectacular RV-friendly locations you should consider visiting in the new year.
Zion National Park – Utah
Most of the locations on this list are national parks, and for good reason. The National Parks Foundation places a heavy emphasis on sustainability and preservation. By providing educational resources and maintaining the land, the foundation ensures that people will continue to be able to explore and enjoy our world’s natural beauty.
The first national park on this list is the image of the American West. Zion National Park, located in the southwestern corner of Utah, is defined by brilliant shades of red rock. Once home to native peoples for thousands of years, this area boasts ancient archeological sites and plenty of history. Zion offers no shortage of hiking trails. Thanks to a rich geological history, this park is famous for its scenic views of breathtaking sandstone canyons.
Yellowstone National Park – Idaho, Montana, & Wyoming
The world’s first ever national park, Yellowstone National Park is an absolute must-see for RV travelers. Yellowstone is known for its extraordinary geologic features and hydrothermal activity. Something that makes this park unique is that Yellowstone is an active supervolcano. This volcanic system is responsible for exciting hydrothermal features such as hot springs, geysers, mineral deposits, mudpots, and steam vents.
Additionally, Yellowstone’s winter ecology and natural beauty make it a great destination for snowbirds! There are plenty of winter activities available for visitors such as skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. With its volcanic activity and unique ecosystem, Yellowstone is a dynamic scientific wonder.
John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park – Florida
The John Pennekamp Coral Reef is regarded as the country’s first undersea park. Located in Florida’s gorgeous Key Largo, this ocean park is the perfect destination for beach-loving RVers! Park visitors are encouraged to view the marine life that flourishes on the colorful reef. If you don’t want to get wet, you can take a tour on a boat with a glass bottom. For a more personal experience, grab some snorkeling and scuba gear! Other activities include, kayaking, canoeing, and even fishing in designated areas.
Moab – Utah
This list wouldn’t be complete without at least two Utah locations. This western state, famous for its almost alien rock formations, simply has too much to offer! Moab, Utah is an ideal destination for boondockers and a haven for avid mountain bikers.
A great area for roadtrippers, Moab is home to both Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. There are also several national monuments nearby that are worth visiting, such as Cedar Breaks and Natural Bridges.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park – North Carolina & Tennessee
Home to expansive temperate forests and ancient sprawling mountains, Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a great location for RVers to explore. Straddling the border between North Carolina and Tennessee, this national park boasts hiking trails that feature breathtaking waterfalls and idyllic campsites for optimal stargazing. Great Smoky Mountains is America’s most visited national park!
Yosemite National Park – California
The Golden State is home to more national parks than any other state in the U.S. Sculpted by ancient glaciers, Yosemite lies within the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. Yosemite is a popular destination for camping, hiking, and mountain climbing. This park is characterized by the massive giant sequoia trees, which are among the largest and oldest trees in the world. This park is worth visiting for these giants. They live for up to three thousand years and often reach nearly 300 feet in height and 100 feet in circumference.
Yosemite is also known for its picturesque granite cliff face, El Capitan, which stands high above the Merced River that flows through the Yosemite Valley. A popular conquest for climbers, this vertical rock formation stands 3,000 feet tall. If climbing isn’t your thing, you can still get spectacular views of El Capitan; RVers especially should check out Tunnel View, a scenic viewpoint located along the California State Route 41.
RVing is all about adventure, and there is no shortage of natural beauty to explore. With these solid considerations, we hope to inspire you to add a destination or two to your travel bucket list. We wish you safe travels on the journey ahead!
