The RV lifestyle can be an exciting one, as it provides the freedom to travel across the country as often and as far as you please. RVing introduces new experiences, the opportunity to try different foods, and even make some friends along the way. A great way to meet fellow RVers, both seasonal and full-timers, is at an RV Rally. The Wholesale Warranties team has the pleasure of attending multiple rallies each year, where we are excited to meet with RVers face to face, and present seminars on the benefits of RV Warranties. We’ve compiled all of our hard-earned rally knowledge to share with you, and we hope these useful tips will allow RV Rally “first timers” to better experience their first show.
Here is our 5-Step Guide on How to Make the Most of an RV Rally:
Choose a Rally
The RV community is huge, providing every type of traveler in every area of the U.S. with a ton of options when it comes to RV Rallies. Some of the most heavily attended shows include the FMCA (Family Motor Coach Association) Family Reunion Rallies, and the annual Quartzsite RV show. There are also rallies specific to RV make, certain RV organizations, websites, or even to families who RV. Utilize popular RV forums such as iRV2.
Coordinate with Your Travels
You should have no problem finding an RV rally that coincides with your RV travel route, with RV Rallies happening at all times of year in different parts of the country. Most rallies are reoccurring and happen multiple times per year, so you should have no problem finding the right one for you. Additionally, most major RV Rallies are announced several months ahead of time, making it easy to fit them into your season travels or full-timing path.
Camping at the Rally
One of the most convenient things about an RV show is the ease of camping on the grounds of the rally. Most larger rallies take place at fairgrounds with the options of added hookups or boondocking, and smaller rallies often occur at full utility campgrounds. Camping at the rally will keep you in the center of all the action, providing more than enough opportunity to meet with neighbors and offer a nearby place of rest throughout the day.
Make the Most of Your Rally Experience
No matter the size of the rally, your experience depends on what you put into it. The average RV rally will have a number of on-site as well as offsite activities to enjoy, so step out of your comfort zone and try something new! Make sure to attend the group meals offered at most major rallies for a great chance to meet like-minded travelers. Many rallies will also have a showcase of motorhomes if you feel like browsing, as well as booths of products and services that pertain to the RV lifestyle. Be on the lookout for deals, as many show vendors will offer rally discounts and free “swag” that you can take home. Whether it’s a nightly concert or free doughnuts in the morning, there are plenty of ways to enjoy RV Rallies.
Join a Group
If you’re new to RVing or not fully immersed in the RV community, it is highly recommended to join some RV clubs and associations! Motorhome owners will want to look toward the Family Motor Coach Association, and RVers of all types can check out the Escapees RV Club, as well as more specific groups strictly for owners of certain makes, like Jayco, Holiday Rambler, and Winnebago, and other similar interest groups, such as women RVers or fulltime families.
