4 Keys to Staying Green While RVing

soil under grass in forest

One of the biggest perks of the RV lifestyle is the amazing glimpse of nature you can witness from the windows of your RV. As Earth Day arrives, we are again reminded of the beauty of America’s natural landscape, and excited to tackle the latest ways to preserve and restore that beauty. Want in on some of our best ideas on how to RV the “green” way? Here are a few ways to make more eco-friendly choices in your daily RV life:

1. Clean Up and Clean Right!

Be kind to your fellow campers and Mother Nature by following one of the most important rules: leave your campsite cleaner than you found it! Pack out all that you brought in, and spend some time searching around your site for any trash that might have wandered away. Separate recyclables from waste and dispose accordingly. Lastly, put out your campfire thoroughly and make certain to never burn metals or plastics.

2. Dry Camp It

It’s easy to get caught up in the luxuries your home on wheels can provide, but never forget the opportunity you have get in tune with nature and dry camp! Seek out BLM lands or other permitted spots and take in the “unplugged” experience. Having no hookups to electricity and water, you will be doing your small part in energy conservation and will save some money while you’re at it!

3. Go SolarWays to Stay Green in Your RV

We’re sure you’ve heard all of the hype around incorporating solar panels on your RV, and it truly is a great way to provide power to your rig. Installing solar to your home-on-wheels is a cost-effective investment that can change the way you RV. Instead of being held down to campsites with hookups, you will have the freedom to camp where you want, all while reducing your carbon footprint.

4. Reduce & Reuse

The RV lifestyle should be as minimal as possible to make for a peaceful time on the road, so be mindful of your purchase decisions. Try your hardest to eliminate disposable items such as dishware and reuse when you can. This can be as simple as re-purposing a glass food jar as a drinking glass or storage container. This will de-clutter your already limited space, your busy mind, and it will provide one more helping hand towards reducing waste.

Yes , in the fall I am going to have solar installed , don’t know how much have to see what the price is going to be , I don’t know if I am going to get enough just keep the rig powered up to start it after storage , or more to run it.
