I just had an issue with my motorhome, where it was missing when under extreme load. I have a GM 8.1L gasser on a 24w
chassis. It ran fine when not loaded up, but on hills there was a bit of vibration and a loss of power. I took it to my local guy, and he put it on the computer with no issues indicated. He then drove it up steep hills with a
guy watching the analyzer, and saw a spike on the #5 cylinder. So he exchanged coil/spark plug cables and
isolated the problem, and saw a bit of carbon etching on the #5 wire and spark plug cable. He replaced the spark plugs and spark plug/coil cables that are sold in sets.
He took the motorhome in immediately, charged me 2 hours labor (should have been more like 4-5), and said that he would not charge me anything if he couldn’t fix it. He encouraged (made) his mechanics to squeeze between the
wheels rather than remove them, to do the work. I had a trip planned, but didn’t want to complicate things with
my schedule, and let them work at their pace… and it was ready when I needed it.
Excellent
