My new Newmar Class A was purchased in Calgary where the dealership participates in the “RV Care Program”. This program is so warranty work can be performed by other dealerships who qualify/participate in this program. Anyways, my roof A/C quit working and since it is a Dometic and the same as found on 90% of the RV’s out there, I talked to the service department at my dealership in Calgary and they OK’d it for me to have the work done at Vellners in Red Deer. They had the unit for two weeks the first time. When it came back it still only worked on “High”…wouldn’t work on “Auto”…and the furnace didn’t work at all. The second time they had it, they had it for two weeks, then called to tell me that “we have to just walk away from this one, it’s costing your dealership too much money and it can’t be fixed”. I took it to my dealer in Calgary at my inconvenience (catching a ride each way, etc) and they fixed the furnace and the A/C unit in 1 hour with a simple reprogram of the Comfort Control Center.
Now if a dealership can’t diagnose and repair a standard Dometic A/C unit, they should not even be in business.
