Slide would not retract on a brand of coach they do not carry. Parkway was unable to fix the problem.
I left the coach with them so they could evaluate the problem and determine if they could fix it. It took several days before they looked at it, then they realized they could not move the coach from the lot into their shop because of the automatic sliding hitch adapter on the kingpin, I had told them about this when I left it; at the time they said this would not be a problem.
So I had to come out and move the coach for them. When I told the tech he could take the capture plate for the automatic slider off by removing four bolts, he insisted he had experience with this and the kingpin assembly would come apart if he removed the bolts. This was not correct, he could have done as I said and saved me a trip.
After finally taking a look, the tech said there were some damaged gears in the slide mechanism and since this was a different type of slide from what he was familiar with, he did not feel qualified to fix it. Fair enough. However, it turned out that he misdiagnosed the problem, the gears were fine and the problem was caused by loose mounting bolts for the slide motor. He could have easily fixed this if he diagnosed it properly.
The people at Parkway were all friendly and they didn’t try to charge me for the “diagnosis”. However my conclusion is that their expertise is limited and unless you have a problem with a brand of coach they carry you are probably better off looking elsewhere for service.
