The trailer was taken to Integrity RV Repair, Elkhart, In. to have the pin box framing re-enforced. During a subsequent inspection of the trailer, a large crack was discovered in the sidewall at the corner of a slide out room, indicating a broken weld in the wall framing. Also, the left side frame I beam appeared to be sagging and needed to be repaired, (insisted upon by the shop owner). The trailer was left at the repair shop for these extensive and costly insurance repairs, starting in September 09. The repairs required removal and replacement of the left side outer wall skin and front fiberglass cap, gaining access to the frame work inside the wall. The frame was torch cut and jacked up. A plate was welded over the cut after the I beam was jacked back into it’s proper location.
After many delays, the trailer was returned to me, at my dealer, December 09. What has followed has been a nightmare! First, all of the shore cables and extension cords were removed and lost by the repair shop. The unit was not winterized as promised. The trailer would not pass State DOT Inspection, because the marker lights across the front cap were not working, wires fell apart on the return trip from Elkhart. They had to be rewired by my dealer to pass inspection. A water leak was found behind the outside shower, because the wrong type of clamp was used in reinstalling the PEX plastic pipe to the fixture. Cost in parts and labor, approximately $700. to fix what was not done right.
Since that time, the larger of the two slide rooms, which were removed from the trailer, has started to function poorly, seeming to bind up when extending it. May be caused by the I beam being over-corrected! The slide seals were installed improperly, and could allow rain water to drain into the camper.
The trailer is also showing signs that the glue used to re-skin the trailer may not be holding, as bulges are beginning to appear.
The only item the shop owner feels he is responsible for are the lost cables. He is refusing to pay for the other repairs. However, through his actions, he is also refusing to pay for the cables, even though he has promised both me and my Insurance Company, eight times, he would write a check for them. No money has been received.
