Insurance claim through GMAC for slight body damage and new main awning. Took motorhome over, they inspected and said no problem. Gave them awning/fabric model #’s from original build sheet. Had an A&E 9000 awning, silver arms, brown acrylic. Agreed to the possibility of them not being able to get the same colors but still told them it was to be an A&E. About a month later they called and said to bring the motorhome in, they were ready. Got there and the awning was a Carefree with vinyl fabric with black cover and arms. The black hardware was OK by us. Told them no way to the Carefree. They called and asked me to call, I did and reiterated that I wouldn’t accept the Carefree, Phil tried to talk me into taking it anyway.
Today they called back and said they would be unable to satisfy me and I should go somewhere else that deals with RV awnings as it really wasn’t their forte. Five*Star is an approved shop by GMAC for RV repairs under their policies.
At no time did I get mad or “cop an attitude”, I did however stick to my guns about refusing the Carefree awning as that’s not what I had originally nor what I told them I would accept.
I have contacted Newmar and they show the silver painted hardware as still being available. Now talking with an RV shop to see about the silver painted hardware.
Anyway, two months wasted waiting for the awning to get here, now we are waiting again.
